SPORT for disabled people across the region is to be given a boost after a cash injection for a premier club
SportsAble in Maidenhead has received £157,200 of funding from Sport England's Inclusive Sport fund which is designed to open up more sports opportunities for disabled people.
Vivienne Davies, SportsAble chairwoman, said: "It [the funding] means a great deal as it provides invaluable funding to help us extend the opportunities for disabled children, young people and adults in Berkshire to get involved in sport."
During the next three years the charity plans to use the money to:
Build links with mainstream organisations working with disabled people, in order to open up pathways to participation
Develop the club's network of inclusive sport hubs, so they act as one-stop shops, providing individual support to 500 people per year
Encourage progression in 20 sports, including the training of 150 coaches, to make it easier for individuals to continue to enjoy sport.
